The Challenge of One
One seems like a pretty simple number. Your number one goal. The number one person in your life. The one thing that you need to start moving forward. Check it out though - we never stop at just one. Why would we? How could we stop? Except for the number one person in your life - who would get really pissed if you didn’t stop at just one (and a whole raft of other less glamorous issues entail), then one is just the start.
Look. If you are reading this then you have a pretty good idea where we are going here. The hardest thing we can do in life and business is take the first step. That ONE big step that seems so daunting and overwhelming that hours, days, months, and years may not be enough time to plan for IT. Whatever IT is. That one big move that could set you apart, change your life, or move your business into a new realm.
The hardest thing we can do in life and business is take that first step. Come on, you know. We have this vision of what we want and how we think we will get there. Thinking about it constantly, discussing it with our friends over and over again, writing it down, thinking about it almost every waking moment (and even when we are not awake). But how many of us actually take that first step? The ONE that will change the course of our lives and set the plan in motion. Great leaders and visionaries have taken that first step. They know what it means and have the balls to do it. But what about the next ONE. And the one after that. And the next one after that.
Clarity is very important. We often get side tracked, knocked off course, or lose our way and need to take a step back and really re-evaluate, recharge, and re-group. Often times things get cloudy. Our original goals and plans get derailed because we forget that ONE things that got us here to begin with. If you are running blind in business and in life then stop. Breath. Slow down. Why did you start the business to begin with? What was your ultimate goal? When did you want to say you were successful? Who were you when you started?
Hard questions to answer for some I am sure.
